Fall Books and Activities: The Hallo-wiener - October 8th, 2012

The Hallo-wiener by Dav Pilkey is one of my students’ favorite fall books!  If you have not read this funny story, Amazon has a great preview of the book.

Scholastic provides the following information about the book.

Grade Level Equivalent: 2.8

Hallo-wiener really is a great story for language!  The book contains provides opportunities to address humor, adjectives, feelings, sequencing, character traits, and much more.   Here are some fun activities we found to go with the book.

Here your students write a sentence describing the dog in the story.  This long dog (great for sentences) could obviously be used for so many other different language activities.

Creating a book trailer is a great way to incorporate technology into your lesson. This is an example of a book trailer created by a 5th grader.
